For sale is a 1987 Mercedes-Benz Unimog U1300L, prepared as a solid expedition base for a custom camper box / cabin build.
This is not a finished expedition camper, not a raw military truck and not a standard flatbed truck. It is a solid and already well-prepared base vehicle for someone who wants to build a high-quality expedition camper according to their own concept.

The combination of 170 hp and fast axles makes a clear difference when travelling. The Unimog drives more relaxed, at lower engine speed, and is much better suited for long-distance travel than many standard U1300L vehicles.

fuel gauge switches automatically with the selected tank

The electric fuel tank switching is very practical when travelling: no getting out, no manual switching, no issue on slopes, gradients or in bad weather.
The separately switchable front axle differential lock was intentionally designed this way, so the vehicle remains controllable and steerable in difficult terrain.
This vehicle is especially suitable for someone who does not want to buy a finished used camper with someone else’s layout, but is looking for a rare and already prepared base vehicle for their own expedition camper box.
Open and transparent:
The tyres are older. The tyre size 365/80 R20 is already registered in the vehicle documents. This is not a new vehicle, but an honest 1987 Unimog with age-related and use-related marks. Further details can be discussed openly during inspection.
Included are repair manuals, documents as PDF files, jack, German military first aid kit and various spare and wear parts.
Inspection is expressly welcome. On request, my endoscope and thermal camera can be used to jointly inspect cavities, frame sections and areas that are difficult to see.
