Info: 100 km/h with unbraked trailers:

The rule is as follows: for unbraked trailers, if you want to utilize 100 km/h for the trailer (if registered accordingly), there is a factor of 0.3 between the unladen weight of the towing vehicle and the permissible total weight of the trailer (worst case scenario). This means that for a 750 kg trailer, you need a towing vehicle with an unladen weight of 750 / 0.3 = 2500 kg.

If you do not meet this requirement, the trailer can be downrated (TÜV inspection required). For example, if your towing vehicle has an unladen weight of 1600 kg, the trailer must be downrated to 1600 x 0.3 = 480 kg. You must then work with the reduced payload, regardless of towing vehicle or speed.

Furthermore, the permissible total weight of the trailer must not exceed the unbraked towing capacity (O2) specified in the vehicle registration.

Note on LED lighting:

With some car models, the LED trailer lighting may not function correctly. This occurs most frequently with newer models and is caused by the low power consumption of LED technology. In such cases, the vehicle or towbar must be fitted with an additional module that supports LED lighting. Lorries does not supply this module in production trailers.
